Besides, even when you cannot write anything on your iPod, if you use it with Mac OS X you can have with you contact and calendar information.

Hey, you never know...maybe Palm will lose a class-action lawsuit in the future, and compell people to by NEWER version by giving them an in-store credit.

Embeded Batteries, rechargable or not, are a bad idea. Lithium-Ion batteries loose small amounts of capacity every time they get too cold because the crystals freeze and melt, but are never exactly the same. Anyone living up in the northern states, especially those who can't take electronic devices with them everywhere and have to leave them in the car, can attest to the fact that our Cellphones wear out faster than those which are consistantly stored in more stable environments (eg - inside an office).

Now, while these devices are not intended for "rugged" environments, everyday life can be pretty rugged. Hell, Maryland is TECHNICALLY a southern state, and it still gets pretty damn cold here. What about people who live in Maine, or Alaska? They deserve electronics too. They shouldn't expect their batteries to last longer than maybe a year, but they should atleast be replaceable.

Just my $.02
