A few days back I listened to this IMA Keynote by Rob Curley on IT Conversations. It blew my mind. I started out looking for some insight in to the team behind Django, The Lawrence Journal-World, lawrence.com, and so on. I got a whole lot more than I had bargained for.
If you’re involved in old media, new media, any media, or just want a glimpse of the future (I hope), please have a listen. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the next few months as Django takes flight, Rob heads to Naples (with technical backup from Eric) and Adrian telecommutes to The Washington Post
Yeah, it’s exciting working for someone who is considered a new media celeb. Luckily it hasn’t gone to his head. I’m still not used to getting trusted into the limelight, before this job, I don’t think I’ve ever been blogged about before :b.
I found a transcript of an earlier version of this talk, at http://www.j-lab.org/b04trans_keynote.html (by searching for some of the distinctive phrases in the audio.) It doesn’t get across the energy and enthusiasm nearly as well, of course. An excellent reminder that once you get the tools out of the way, you still have to pour a lot of energy to get everything *else* out of the way too.
